About Massimo

Massimo Di Pierro is Associate Professor at the School of Computing of DePaul University (Chicago, USA). At DePaul, Dr. Di Pierro has taught Object Oriented Programming in C++, Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Parallel Algorithms, Network Programming, Scientific Computing, Monte Carlo Simulations with Financial Applications, Information Assurance, Host Security, Secure Electronic Commerce, and Frameworks for Web Applications Development. At DePaul, he is also in charge of the Master of Science in Computational Finance.

Dr. Di Pierro was born in 1971 in Roma (Italy), has a Master of Science in Physics from the University of Pisa (Italy). and a Ph.D. in High Energy Theoretical Physics
from the University of Southampton (UK). Before joining DePaul in 2002, Dr. Di Pierro worked as Associate Researcher for the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.
He is the author of more than 40 publications in the fields of Theoretical Physics (mostly in Lattice Quantum-Chromo-Dynamics), and Computational Finance (mostly in Quantitative Risk Management).

He is the chief architect and the main developer of web2py, a free and open source full-stack enterprise framework for agile development of secure database-driven web-based applications, written and programmable in Python.
